This comprehensive bibliometric analysis examines research on Social Financial Grants (SFGs) and poverty eradication in Sub-Saharan Africa from 2003 to 2024. Through a systematic review of publications from Scopus, this research elucidates the scientific evolution, emerging trends, and future directions in SFG implementation and effectiveness. The analysis identifies three distinct phases in SFG research development: initial exploration (2003-2010), program expansion (2011-2017), and digital transformation (2018-2024). Key findings reveal a substantial increase in research output, with a compound annual growth rate of 12.3% in publications, particularly focusing on conditional cash transfers and digital payment systems. The study identifies critical research clusters around targeting mechanisms, sustainability frameworks, and impact evaluation methodologies. Results demonstrate that while SFGs have contributed to reducing extreme poverty by an average of 18% in implementing countries, significant challenges persist in fiscal sustainability, coverage gaps, and administrative efficiency. Geographic analysis reveals research concentration in Southern and Eastern Africa, with limited coverage in Central African regions. This study contributes to the literature by mapping the intellectual structure of SFG research, identifying research gaps, and proposing a future research agenda. The findings have significant implications for policymakers and researchers in developing more effective poverty eradication strategies, suggesting the need for increased focus on innovative financing mechanisms, integration with digital technologies, and enhanced cross-country learning platforms.
